Google Search Is Changing Forever as Gemini Takes Over

Google has officially introduced major changes to its search engine during Google I/O 2026, with the main focus centered on AI integration through Gemini. According to a TechCrunch report, the era of traditional search results filled with “ten blue links” is now beginning to fade.As part of the new update, Google introduced an “intelligent search box” designed to support longer, more conversational queries. Users no longer need to switch between different search modes, as the system will automatically adapt the search experience using Gemini AI.

Google has also added AI powered query suggestions that are said to be far more advanced than the traditional autocomplete feature. The system helps users create more detailed and complex questions while searching for information online.

In addition, Search can now guide users directly into interactive AI experiences instead of simply displaying lists of website links. This approach signals Google ambition to transform Search into something closer to an AI assistant rather than a traditional search engine.

Among the newly announced features are “information agents,” AI agents capable of gathering information automatically on behalf of users. Google also introduced tools that allow users to create personalized mini apps directly within Search based on their own needs.TechCrunch described the update as the biggest transformation to Google Search since the search box was first introduced more than 25 years ago.
