Lenovo has officially confirmed the return of its Legion gaming smartphone lineup with the introduction of the new Legion Y70 (2026), which is scheduled to launch in China on May 19. The device marks Lenovo’s first gaming smartphone under the Legion branding since its last model was introduced around 2022.Ahead of the official launch, Lenovo has begun teasing several key features of the upcoming device. One of the biggest highlights is the inclusion of a 2K OLED display with a high refresh rate, paired with a massive 8,000mAh battery designed to deliver extended gaming sessions.
Lenovo also confirmed that the Legion Y70 (2026) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, placing it firmly in the premium gaming smartphone category. Although it does not feature the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used by some rivals, the decision is believed to help Lenovo offer a more competitive price point for mobile gamers.On the cooling side, the smartphone features a large 5,500mm² vapor chamber cooling system built to maintain stable temperatures during intensive gaming sessions. Lenovo also claims the display utilizes AI-powered technology to reduce power consumption without compromising visual performance.
The Legion Y70 (2026) introduces a refreshed design compared to previous Legion smartphones. Based on official teaser images, the device comes with a redesigned rear camera module alongside a more prominent Legion branding. Lenovo is also including Dolby Atmos audio support to enhance both gaming and multimedia experiences.The return of the Legion smartphone series is seen as Lenovo’s effort to re-enter the gaming smartphone market after previously stepping away from the segment. In the past, Lenovo released several notable gaming phones such as the Legion Phone Duel 2 and Legion Y90, both of which focused heavily on delivering high-performance mobile gaming experiences.
