Honor upcoming flagship smartphone is once again making headlines as more specifications of the Honor Magic9 Pro Max have surfaced online. The premium device, which is expected to launch later this year, is rumored to bring major upgrades in camera technology, performance, and battery capacity.
According to several industry sources and well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Honor Magic9 Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution. The panel is also said to adopt a mostly flat design paired with slightly curved 2.5D glass edges to deliver a more premium in-hand experience.
In terms of performance, the device is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, reportedly built on TSMC latest 2nm manufacturing process. The chip is expected to deliver significant improvements in processing power and energy efficiency compared to its predecessor. Some reports even claim it could reach clock speeds close to 5GHz, offering near desktop-level performance.
The camera department appears to be the biggest highlight of the Pro Max model this year. Honor is reportedly testing a dual 200MP camera system consisting of a large 1/1.28-inch primary sensor alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto lens designed for sharper long range zoom photography. If the leak proves accurate, the Magic9 Pro Max could become one of the first smartphones to feature two 200MP sensors in a single device.Honor is also reportedly collaborating with professional camera company ARRI to further enhance photography and video recording capabilities on the Magic9 series. The partnership is expected to introduce more cinematic image processing, a growing trend among premium flagship smartphones.
On the battery side, the Honor Magic9 Pro Max is rumored to pack at least an 8000mAh battery, potentially making it one of the largest batteries ever featured in a flagship smartphone if finalized for the commercial model. The device is also expected to support wireless charging alongside next generation fast charging technology.
For security and additional features, the smartphone is said to include a 3D facial recognition system, an ultrasonic in display fingerprint scanner IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance and premium symmetrical stereo speakers.Although all details remain based on leaks and early prototypes, Honor is expected to officially unveil the Magic9 series around October this year if the company follows its usual flagship release schedule.
